Huawei Cooperates with Motorola on Mobile Phone Production
July 23, 2010
Motorola
introduced on July 22, 2010 its new EX300 mobile phone, which is based on Qualcomm's
BMP (Brew Mobile Platform) and will be sold in Taiwan, and it is believed that
the EX300 is contract manufactured by Huawei, according to the Commercial Times
of Taiwan. This is reportedly the first cooperation between Motorola and Huawei
on mobile phone production. Motorola relaunched its outsourcing plans starting
from the second half of 2009, and Taiwanese CCI (Compal Communication Inc.) was
reported to have landed the orders for manufacturing two types of Android-based
mobile phones, one of which features Qualcomm's BMP. The order for the Qualcomm
BMP-based mobile phone, however, was cancelled at a later stage, according to
the same source.
