Taiwan, Japan, US Expected to Win Trade Dispute against EU

Taiwan, together with Japan and the United States are expected to win a trade complaint against the EU (European Union) for violating the obligations specified by the ITA (Information Technology Agreement) under the WTO (World Trade Organization), Commercial Times of Taiwan reported on July 12, 2010. The trade dispute was filed two years ago, and the final report is scheduled for release on July 23, 2010. Currently, EU has imposed 14% tariff on imports of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panels larger than 19-inch and equipped with HDI (High Definition Interface) and DVI (Digital Video Interface), 6% on multifunctional printers, and 13.9% on STBs (Set Top Boxes).
