Chimei Innolux, Hitachi Displays Form IPS Alliance to Expand Panel Supply

Chimei Innolux and Japanese Hitachi Displays announced on July 1, 2010 that the
two companies have signed a formal licensing agreement on IPS (In Panel
Switching) technology, according to Economic Daily News of Taiwan. As per the
agreement, it is expected that Hitachi Displays will license the IPS technology
to its Taiwanese partner Chimei Innolux for use in its panel products, and Chimei
Innolux will in turn provide manufacturing support to increase the supply of IPS
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panels to Hitachi Displays. Chimei Innolux plans
to start providing LCD panels manufactured using IPS technology at the end of
2010 or early 2011, according to the same source.
