AUO to Produce LCD TV, LCM in Hefei, China

held a groundbreaking ceremony on June 29, 2010 for the establishment of a new LCD
(Liquid Crystal Display) TV and LCM (LCD Module) assembly factory in Hefei,
China, according to Economic Daily News of Taiwan. The factory is expected to accommodate
5,000 employees. The new plant is valued at approximately 1.05 billion RMB (US$155
million; US&1 = 6.79 RMB), and it is estimated that the annual output value
of the plant will be around 20 billion RMB (US$2.95 billion). Phase one
construction is slated for completion in May 2011, with a projected production capacity
of 400,000 LCD televisions annually, according to the same source.
