AUO to Suspend 7.5G LCD Plant Construction in Kunshan, China
June 10, 2010
AUO announced on June 9 that the company will temporary suspend the construction of its new 7.5G LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) plant located in Kunshan, China, due to the pending approval from Taiwan's government, Taiwan's Economic Daily reported on June 10. AUO submitted an application to Taiwan's government back in March 2010 but the application is still currently under review by the government. Should the government approves the plan, the new 7.5G plant, with an estimated total investment of US$3.0 billion, is capable of churning out 60,000 glass substrates per month, assisting Taiwanese equipment suppliers sell their equipment to Chinese local panel makers, according to the same source.
