China Telecom Plans to Launch FTTH Network in 2010

China Telecom plans to complete FTTH (Fiber To
The Home) construction and provide access for 500,000 to one million households
in 2010, the Beijing News reported on May 7 quoting the chief engineer of China
Telecom. According to Wei Leping, chief engineer of China Telecom, the company
has been engaged in the development and construction of the FTTH network for
six years and the construction costs have dropped 25% in the past year, making
possible the commencement of large-scale application.
