Huawei to Deploy Pre-commercial LTE Network in Saudi Arabia

Chinese telecom solution provider Huawei
Technologies has been selected by STC (Saudi Telecom Company) to deploy a
pre-commercial LTE (Long Term Evolution) network in Saudi Arabia, according to
an April 22 Al-Bawaba report. The first-phase deployment has been completed and
is currently capable of providing a maximum downlink speed of 100Mbps per user.
The entire pre-commercial LTE network is slated for rollout by year-end 2010. Network
coverage is expected to include major Saudi cities such as Riyadh and Dammam.
