- China Mobile recently revealed that the company will establish three demonstration TD-LTE (Time Division-Long Term Evolution) networks separately in three coastal cities, including Qingdao, Xiaman, and Zhuhai, in the latter half of 2010, the Chinese Business News reported on April 12. In addition, China Mobile will also complete the establishment of 100 TD-LTE base stations in these three cities as well. China Mobile stated that the demonstration networks in Shanghai and Guangzhou are for the imminent 2010 Shanghai Expo and 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games while the demonstration networks in Qingdao, Xiaman, and Zhuhai are set up for the large-scale commercialization of TD-LTE networks nationwide.

 

In addition, China Mobile launched the demonstration network in Shanghai on April 15, the chinabyte.com reported on April 15, adding that the network is now capable of delivering a maximum downlink speed of 70Mbps and a maximum uplink transmission speed of 25Mbps in certain test areas, representing a significant progress in pursuit of a full-fledged TD-LTE network with a theoretical downlink speed of 100Mbps and uplink speed of 50Mbps, according to the same source.
