Nokia Renews Separate Mobile Phone Supply Deals with Telling and PTAC
April 02, 2010
Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced on April 1 that the company has separately renewed its existing mobile phone supply agreements with two leading Chinese mobile phone distributors Telling Telecommunication and China PTAC (Postal and Telecommunications Appliances Corporation), the Sohu IT News reported on March 31. Under the terms of agreements, Nokia will each deliver no less than 6.8 billion RMB (US$1 billion; US$1 = 6.8 RMB) worth of mobile phones to these two distributors in 2010, according to the same source. The number of Nokia mobile phones purchased by PTAC, however, is declining. China PTAC purchased mobile phones worth of around US$1.76 billion from Nokia in 2009, lower than US$2 billion in 2008.

Under the Nokia-Telling tie up, they also agreed to collaborate in the development of entry-level and 3G phone products as well as the rural market in China, according to the Xinhua News on April 1.
