Compal Reportedly Slates Notebook PC Production in Vietnam for 2H 2010

Taiwanese notebook PC manufacturer Compal Electronics has decided to resume construction on its manufacturing base in Vietnam, Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported on February 10. It is reported that equipment installation and personnel training are currently underway at Compal's Vietnam notebook PC plant, which is expected to start production in the second half of 2010. At the same time, Compal is also expanding its manufacturing facilities in Kunshan of Jiangsu Province, China. Compal is currently constructing a fifth plant at its Kunshan base and the new plant is slated to start mass production in the third quarter of 2010. In addition, Compal is planning to build a second manufacturing base adjacent to the existing Kunshan base, according to the Economic Daily News report.
