Wintek to Set Up New Plant in Dongguan, Guangdong Province

Taiwan-based mobile phone display and capacitive
touch panel manufacturer Wintek Corporation has signed an agreement of
cooperation to set up a manufacturing facility in the Dongguan Songshan Lake
Science and Technology Industry Park, Guangdong Province, according to a February
9 report by Taiwan's Commercial Times. With an investment estimated at 1.9
billion RMB (US$279.4 million; US$1=6.8 RMB), Wintek plans to start
construction on the new plant within 2010 and kick off production in early
2011. It is reported that Wintek will hire at least an R&D staff of around
1,000 for the new facility.
