Inventec to Double Cloud Computing R&D Manpower to 3,000 by 2012
January 29, 2010
Taiwanese Inventec plans to build up the manpower in its cloud computing R&D center to 3,000 by 2012, up from the current 1,400, with an aim to seek new business opportunities from cloud computing. The R&D center located in Taoyuan, Taiwan, will not only help Taiwan's government-funded ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute) promote cloud computing projects related to building container datacenters, but also will consolidate the company's R&D personnel in the United States and around the world into this R&D center. Inventec stated that the company expects to see server products' share of its total revenue in the first quarter of 2010 to reach 15%-20%, slightly higher than that in 2009.
