Taiwan's Foxconn, Germany's Metro Form Retail Venture in China

Germany-based retailer Metro reached a joint venture deal with Taiwan's Foxconn Technology at the end of 2009 for establishing consumer electronics outlets in China, Central News Agency of Taiwan reported on January 4, 2010. With a 75% stake, Metro will control the operation and management of the venture, named Media-Saturn China. Foxconn, meanwhile, will hold the remaining 25% stake. It is reported that Metro is currently seeking to establish the Media-Saturn China headquarters in Shanghai. It is expected that the first Media Markt and Saturn-branded store will open in Shanghai within this year. Metro expects to establish a chain of around 100 stores in China by 2015.
