China's Irico to Invest US$544.1 Mln in Six Hefei Glass Substrate Lines

Chinese TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) panel manufacturer Irico Group Electronics began construction on new glass substrate production lines in Hefei, Anhui Province, on December 22, the Chinese-language Xinhua News reported. It is reported that Irico plans to invest 3.7 billion RMB (US$544.1 million; US$1=6.8 RMB) in the first phase to build two 5G and 5.5G hybrid production lines and four 6G lines in Hefei New Railway Station Comprehensive Development Experimental Zone. It is projected that upon completion, this 300-acre (121.4-hectare) production base will be able to achieve an annual output of nearly 1.03 million 5G and 5.5G substrates as well as 1.35 million 6G substrates. Overall, Irico expects to construct ten glass substrate production lines in Hefei, Xianyang, and Zhangjiagang.
