Quanta, Inventec Reportedly to Build Notebook PC Plants in Chongqing
December 27, 2009
Taiwanese notebook PC manufacturers Quanta Computer and Inventec are reportedly set to build manufacturing plants in Chongqing, China, according to a December 24 Reuters report. Both Quanta and Inventec are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Chongqing municipal government to that effect within the next couple of months. It is pointed out in the Reuters report that Quanta's Chongqing plant is slated to begin trial runs in mid-2010 and move into production in the second half of 2011. HP is expected to be the main client served by both companies' Chongqing manufacturing operations. However, both Quanta and Inventec declined to comment on the report and said that there have not been definitive conclusions as to the respective companies' investment plans in China.
