November 05, 2009
Chinese network solution provider Huawei
Technologies has been selected by US cable TV operator Mediacom Communications
for large-scale deployment of NG-DWDM (Next-Generation Dense Wavelength
Division Multiplexing) backbone transport network in the United States, according
to a press release by Huawei on October 28. The deployment project is expected
to span over 4,000 kilometers of backbone network across the states of
Missouri, Iowa, and Minnesota. As per the terms of the agreement, Huawei is
expected to employ its OSN6800A NG-WDM platform with multi-degree ROADM (Reconfigurable
Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer), tunable optics, and OTN (Optical Transport
Network) cross-connects. Network solution is expected to come in both present 10/40G
and future 100G wavelength capabilities.
