BOE Launches Mass Production at 4.5G TFT-LCD Plant in Chengdu

Chinese TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) panel manufacturer BOE Technology launched mass production at a new 4.5G plant in Chengdu, Sichuan Province on October 25, according to China Business News. BOE's 4.5G project was initiated in March 2008 with a budget of 3.1 billion RMB (US$455.9 million; US$1=6.8 RMB). The Chengdu plant is projected to manufacture small- and medium-size TFT-LCD panels for use in notebook PCs, flat panel PCs, digital photo frames, in-vehicle displays, mobile displays, and mobile phones. It is reported that BOE has reached supply agreement with more than ten customers, both domestic and abroad. The other 4.5G line currently in production in China is Shenzhen Tianma's facility in Shanghai. Furthermore, Shenzhen Tianma has a second 4.5G line under construction in Chengdu, while CATIC (China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation) Shenzhen is building a four billion RMB (US$588.2 million) 4.5G facility in Wuhan.
