November 01, 2009

Korean LG Electronics' purchase from Taiwan in 2010 is expected to top the level of US$1.5 billion in 2009, Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported on October 22, 2009. LG plans to purchase LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panels worth US$500 million each from AUO and CMO. Manufacturing of LCD TVs and monitors will be outsourced to Ya Hsin Industrial and TPV Technology, while mobile phone assembly will be outsourced to Arima Communications. LG projects that its LCD TV shipment volume will reach 25 million units in 2010, with 30% being LED (Light Emitting Diode)-backlit models. Moreover, LG is expected to procure LED backlighting modules mostly from Taiwan's Lite-On Technology and Everlight Electronics, too.
