Inventec, TPV to Form JV for All-in-one PCs
October 16, 2009
Taiwanese notebook PC maker Inventec plans to set up a new JV with Hong Kong's LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitor maker TPV Technology, Reuters reported on October 15. The JV, to be held 49% by Inventec and 51% by TPV, will be initially capitalized with US$20 million, according to the same source. Under the tie-up, they will collaborate in the manufacturing and development of AIO (All-In-One) desktop PCs, indicating Inventec's foray into this new business segment. Inventec stated that the JV's R&D operations will be based in Taiwan and the company will rent TPV's production lines deployed in China. Both companies, however, declined to specify details regarding production volume of the JV. Aside from Inventec, other PC makers Quanta and Wistron have already entered the AIO PC segment as well.
