SK Telecom to Commercialize e-Paper Display Products in 2011

On September 16, Korean telecom operator SK Telecom unveiled several products featuring an exclusive e-paper technology, jointly developed by three subsidiaries of Korean conglomerate SK Group - namely SK Telecom, SKC, and SK Chemical - at the P&T/Wireless & Networks Comm China 2009, the Maeil Business News of Korea reported on September 18. These e-paper display products, including e-book, mobile phone, smartcard and electronic signage, are slated for commercialization in 2011. SK Telecom stated that e-books and mobile phones using its own-developed e-paper technology will be able to provide a response speed of up to 100 times faster than Amazon Kindle and Samsung Papyrus using US-based E-ink's e-paper technology, according to the same source.
