Longfei Optoelectronics Breaks Ground on 8.5G LCD Panel Plant in Kunshan, China

China's Longfei Optoelectronics broke ground on a new 8.5G LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel plant in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province on September 12, Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported. Located in the Kunshan Optoelectronics Industrial Park, Longfei's 8.5G LCD panel plant covers an area of 1,500 acres and involves an overall investment of US$3.3 billion. This 8.5G plant is expected to become China's most advanced LCD manufacturing facility upon completion, which is slated for the third quarter of 2011. Projected with a monthly production capacity of 90,000 glass substrates, Longfei's 8.5G plant is expected to engage in the R&D, production, and sales of LCD panels, modules, and finished goods with sizes ranging from 32- to 52-inch. Longfei Optoelectronics is a joint venture between Grand City Development and the Kunshan Development Zone Collective Asset Operating Company.
