TDK Forms OEL Display Partnership with Futaba

Japanese electronic component provider TDK and FED (Field Emission Display) and VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) manufacturer Futaba have entered into a capital and operational partnership for the development of OEL (Organic Electro-Luminescent) display products, the two companies announced on August 4, 2009, according to a Nikkei report. As per the partnership, Futaba is expected to take a 25% stake in TDK Micro Device, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TDK specializing in design and production of OEL displays. Via the business alliance, TDK seeks to expand the application of its OEL products from mobile phones to consumer electronics and automotive displays leveraging Futaba's strength in the market.
