Sharp to Expand 8G LCD Panel Production Capacity at Kameyama by 10%

Japan's Sharp recently said that it plans to expand 8G LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel production capacity at its Kameyama No.2 Plant by 10% on rising LCD TV demand, Nikkei reported on July 10, 2009. Full operation at the Kameyama No.2 plant, located in central Japan, began in April 2009 with a monthly output of 90,000 glass substrates. The company plans to streamline the manufacturing process on its production line to boost the output to 100,000 glass substrates per month after August 2009. Also, Sharp expects to advance the commencement of operation at its new 10G LCD plant in Sakai, western Japan, to October 2009 from the original schedule of March 2010, according to the Nikkei report.
