AUO Reportedly Mulls LCD Panel Project in Slovakia

manufacturer AUO is expected to finalize an agreement with Slovakia on setting
up an LCD panel manufacturing facility in the country, according to an April 30
Reuters report. It is reported that the project has been agreed on, and AUO and
the Slovak authority are presently negotiating the final details. The Reuters
report also said that AUO is expected to invest 200 million Euros (US$266.67
million; US$1=0.75 Euro) in this project, which is estimated to create 3,000
jobs. An AUO spokesperson stated that the company is currently reviewing the
site for its new Europe plant, and Slovakia is but one option, according to a Chinese-language
Wall Street Journal report on April 30.
