AUO Reportedly to Resume 7.5G and 8.5G LCD Panel Production
April 24, 2009
Taiwanese LCD TV (Liquid Crystal Display Television) panel maker AUO plans to resume the LCD panel production at its second 7.5G and 8.5G plants, Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported on April 20. Located at the Houli base of the CTSP (Central Taiwanese Science Park), AUO's second 8.5G plant - focusing on manufacturing 46-, 52-, and 55-inch panels - is capable of churning out 40,000 glass substrates initially per month. The 8.5G plant had delivered 20,000 glass substrates at the end of 2008 before the company's temporary suspension of production. Meanwhile, AUO's second 7.5G plant located in central Taiwan - producing panels for 40- and 50-inch and above LCD TVs ill resume production as well, with an initial monthly capacity of 60,000 glass substrates as originally scheduled, according to the same source. AUO, however, declined to comment on the report.
