ZTE Unveils WCDMA Netbook PC

Chinese communications equipment maker ZTE debuted its netbook PC in Beijing on April 10, 2009, according to a report by The Beijing News. ZTE's first netbook PC, codenamed V60, is a 3G WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) model, and the company has indicated plans for CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous CDMA) models as well. ZTE V60 is based on Intel's Atom processor platform and is manufactured by OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) for ZTE. Names of ZTE's OEM partners, nevertheless, were not disclosed. WCDMA-based V60 is expected to be distributed by China Unicom, which is scheduled to launch its 3G WCDMA services on May 17, 2009. It is expected that ZTE will team up with other Chinese telecom operators for the distribution of future netbook PC products as well.
