Taiwan-based EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) provider Hon Hai Precision Industry, trading under the name of Foxconn, plans to form a R&D team for Smartphones based on Google's open source mobile platform, in a bid to stimulate its mobile phone shipments, Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported on March 31. Aside from HTC, which has rolled out Android phones, other Taiwanese companies such as Asus, Acer and Compal also plan to launch Android Smartphones some time this year.
