Shanghai RaisingSun Collaborates with Broadcom, NEC for China's DTV Market
March 26, 2009
Shanghai-based RaisingSun Digital Video Technology Company and US Broadcom Corporation have jointly launched a DTV (Digital TV) turnkey solution that supports all Chinese broadcasting standards, according to a press release by Broadcom. Incorporating Broadcom's BCM3549 DTV SoC (System on Chip) solution and RaisingSun's iTVware middleware, the all-in-one DTV design platform supports diverse broadcasting standards, including PAL (Phase Alternating Line) analog TV, DVB-C (Digital Video Broadcasting - Cable), DTMB (Digital Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcast), and the high-definition AVS (Audio Video Standard). By means of the Broadcom-RaisingSun solution, DTV manufacturers are expected to enjoy the advanced capabilities of dynamic user interface, Internet connectivity, as well as support for widget applications.

At the same time, RaisingSun has also collaborated with NEC Electronics on developing a DTV reference design compatible with all Chinese DTV standards, according to a press release by NEC on March 23. The NEC-RaisingSun solution combines NEC's EMMATM3TL image processing SoC and driver software with RaisingSun's middleware and application software. In addition to the Chinese market, DTV manufacturers leveraging this solution are enabled to deliver high-definition DTV solutions catering to the H.264 standard definition broadcasting markets such as Eastern Europe, Russia, India, and South Africa.
