Korea's KT, Bangladesh Telecom Ink Network Expansion Deal

KT (Korean Telecommunication) and BTCL (Bangladesh Telecommunication Company) recently have signed a supply agreement, whereby KT will help the latter implement internet infrastructure in all divisional cities and major district towns in Bangladesh by 2010, Yonhap New Agency reported. The deal is valued at 28 billion Won (US$19.9 million; US$1 = 1355.4 Won). As a part of the deal, a new optical fiber cable network with a total length of about 554km will be established, according to the bangladeshnew24.com. Should the project be completed, users can access broadband internet, triple play (Broadband Internet, IP phone, IPTV), and ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) network services. Pan-Bangladesh network coverage is projected to be achieved by 2021, according to the same source.
