Vizio to Pull Out of Plasma TV Business
February 13, 2009
Flat-panel TV manufacturer Vizio is expected to phase out its plasma TV business and focus on LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs, making Vizio the second company known to pull the plug on plasma TVs in the past week after Pioneer, according to a New York Times report on February 11. Only three major manufacturers - LG, Panasonic, and Samsung - therefore remain in the US plasma TV market. Vizio is expected to concentrate its resources on fortifying its LCD TV line, with the company's first LED (Light Emitting Diode)-backlit model slated for July debut.
