Samsung SDI to Terminate Plasma Display Panel Line

Korean Samsung SDI announced on October 23 that the company will shut down its PDP (Plasma Display Panel) P2 line for good beginning from December 31, in a bid to boost production efficiency, according to a report by Dow Jones. At the same time, the company plans to further boost production capacity of its P3 and P4 lines. Currently, the P2 line produces PDPs for both 42-inch and 50-inch PDP TVs, while the P3 and P4 lines deliver 42-inch and 50-inch PDPs, respectively. The company stated that its overall output will remain stable despite the shutdown.
