China's BOE Technology is expected to establish an 8G TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) production line in Beijing's Yizhuang Economic and Technological Development Zone, Reuters reported on December 12. It is estimated that the overall investment in this project will amount to up to 30 billion RMB (US$4.38 billion; US$1=6.85 RMB), with partial funding coming from the Beijing municipal government and other state-owned enterprises, according to an English-language China Times report. BOE expects to start construction on this 8G line, which will mainly manufacture 40-inch TFT-LCD products, in September 2009.
