Huawei to Aid Malaysian DiGi in 3G Mobile Broadband Network Rollout

China's Huawei Technologies has been appointed by Malaysian mobile operator DiGi as the vendor in charge of integrating, deploying, and managing DiGi's 3G mobile broadband network slated for commercial launch in early 2009, according to a press release by DiGi. As per the agreement, Huawei will provide UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) radio access and packet-switched core network services and equipment for the Malaysian operator. The design, supply, installation, integration, optimization, and maintenance of the first phase of DiGi's 3G mobile broadband network are also encompassed in Huawei's responsibilities outlined in the deal. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, though.
