LG Display Reduces LCD Panel Production by 10% until End of August
August 08, 2008
Korea-based LG Display revealed in late July that the company would reduce LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel production by approximately 10%, starting immediately through the end of August, according to a Reuters report. LG Display's output cutback follows Taiwanese competitors AUO and CMO's similar moves as a countermeasure to the oversupply plaguing the LCD panel industry. Nevertheless, another major Korean panel maker Samsung stated that the company has not entertained similar plans. LG Display's LCD panel production volume is expected to return to normal levels starting from September.
