Hitachi, Airvana Join Hands for CDMA Femtocell Solutions

Hitachi and US-based femtocell solutions provider Airvana have inked a cooperation agreement, under which the two companies will jointly develop CDMA femtocell solutions, leveraging on both parties' proprietary technologies, Nikkei Electronics Asia reported on July 30. End products to come out of Hitachi and Airvana's collaboration will target the Japanese market. The launch date has not yet been confirmed.

Under said agreement, Airvana will deliver its CDMA femtocell products, which are tailor-made for incorporation with Hitachi's core network products, according to the same source. The Airvana-Hitachi solution is expected to accelerate the deployment of femtocells via integration with the existing voice and packet data core networks.
