Japan Regional WiMAX Services Projected to Start in October 2008

At the Japan Cable TV and Telecommunications Show 2008 held from June 19 to 21 in Tokyo, Japanese electronic communication equipment provider New Japan Radio revealed that full-scale regional WiMAX services - which utilize 10MHz channel bandwidth in the 2.5GHz band ?is expected to be available in October 2008 at the soonest, Nikkei Electronics reported. Should the plan go as planned, regional WiMAX services will be available ahead of mobile WiMAX services, which are slated for commencement nationwide in or after February 2009, according to the same report.
