At the SID (Society for Information Display) Display Week 2008, held from May 20 to 22, Taiwanese LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel maker AUO announced a number of advanced products, including a curved LCD as well as in-cell multi-touch panels which come in two sizes, 4.3- and 8.0-inches, Xinhua PR Newswire reported.

By means of a new thinning technique, AUO is able to produce LCDs with a curved radius of 100mm. The new curved LCD can find use in various applications, such as watches and dashboards, according to the same report. AUO, however, did not reveal production schedule for its curved LCD. Meanwhile, the company also announced two new in-cell multi-touch panels of 4.3- and 8.0-inches for handheld devices, featuring high color saturation and readability in direct sunlight. According to Taiwan's Economic Daily News, AUO's 4.3-inch multi-touch panels are slated for mass production in the second quarter of 2008.
