LG Display is slated to demonstrate at the SID 2008 - to be held from May 18 to 23 - the company's new elliptic and circular LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panels, according to a Nikkei report.

LG Display's new circular panel measures 35.5mm diametrically, and its new elliptic panel, measuring 131.4mm in major axis and 78.8mm in minor axis, is reportedly the largest worldwide. Furthermore, LG Display claims that both LCD panels boats a display of 262,000 colors and a maximum viewing angle of about 160 degrees, according to the same Nikkei report. Applications for the elliptic panel include photo frames and various consumer electronics, while the circular panel can find use in mobile phones, timepieces, and gaming consoles.
