Foxlink, Qualcomm Join Hands on mirasol Display Plant in Taoyuan, Taiwan

Taiwan's Foxlink Group and US Qualcomm MEMS Technologies, a wholly-owned subsidiary of US Qualcomm, announced on May 6 a strategic agreement, whereby the two companies will jointly set up a dedicated plant in the Lungtan Science Park in Taoyuan, Taiwan for the production of Qualcomm's mirasol displays, according to Foxlink's press release.

Qualcomm's next-generation miraso displays are based on a reflective technology called IMOD (Interferometric Modulation). Foxlink has created a new business unit for the joint project with Qualcomm. The plant is slated to begin operations in 2009.
