Hisense to Start Second-phase LCM Production Expansion
April 18, 2008
Following the inauguration of its first LCM (Liquid Crystal Display Module) production line in Qingdao last September, Chinese electronics maker Hisense is due to begin construction on its second-phase LCM production line soon, Sina News reported.

As part of Hisense's 700 million RMB (US$100.2 million; US$1=6.99 RMB) investment plan, the second-phase production line is slated to begin operations in July 2008, mainly focusing on the production of modules for 47-inch and larger LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs, according to the same source.

After the completion of the second-phase construction, the combined annual production capacity of Hisense's LCM lines, including the one in Qingdao, is estimated to reach 1.5 million units. Hisense's ultimate goal is to reach an annual capacity of three million units upon the completion of all five projected LCM lines in 2009.
