SVA Plans to Construct 6G LCD Plant in Shanghai
March 21, 2008
As recommended by the Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Chinese LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel maker SVA Group is expected to submit an investment plan of over US$2 billion for a new 6G LCD plant in Shanghai, Sina News reported.

Panels to be manufactured in this new facility include 32- and 37-inch panels, according to the same report. SVA is expected to submit the investment plan to the Commission within a month. Upon receiving approval from the Commission, the company plans to kick off construction on the facility in the second half of 2008.

Projected consolidation of the 5G LCD panel production lines of three Chinese panel makers BOE, SVA, and IVO has been deferred indefinitely. Should the three companies follow through on the project, SVA's new 6G production line will likely be incorporated into the new venture, according to the same source.
