Wistron, CMO to Join Hands on Vietnam Development
March 07, 2008
Taiwanese notebook PC maker Wistron is planning to set up manufacturing facilities in Vietnam, teaming up with Taiwan-based LCD panel maker CMO and equipment maker Catcher Technology on land development, Chinese-language Economy Daily News reported.

Wistron stated on March 2 that the company has been eyeing investment in Vietnam, yet the scale and amount thereof haven't been finalized so far. Still, according to the Economic Daily News report, Wistron is expected to decide upon the investment plan by June 2008 and is slated to start volume shipment in 2010.

Wistron is expected to become the second Taiwanese company to manufacture notebook PCs in Vietnam, following Compal Electronics, whose production line is scheduled to move into trial production in the fourth quarter of 2008.
