European Commission Approves Acer-Packard Bell Deal
February 29, 2008
The European Commission announced on February 27 that it has approved Taiwanese Acer's acquisition of Netherlands-based PC maker Packard Bell, Xinhua News reported.

By acquiring Packard Bell, along with its takeover of US-based Gateway in August 2007, Acer is expected to boost its brand awareness in Europe, expand its market presence in the United States, and prevent its rival Lenovo from making inroads into the European markets.
