AUO to Decide on Europe LCM Plant in 2Q 2008

Taiwan-based AUO is planning to set up an LCM (Liquid Crystal Display Module) plant in Europe. Definitive plan is expected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2008, according to a report by Chinese-language Economic Daily News.
Potential sites for the new plant include Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Total amount of the investment is expected not to exceed NT$10 billion (US$317 million; US1=NT$31.5). The plant will be able to move into production in six months from the establishment of the production line, according to Economic Daily News citing an AUO official.
