Maxscend Unveils Full-mode Digital TV IC Solution
January 25, 2008
Following the announcement of several policies on encouraging digital TV development by China's National Development and Reform Commission on January 22, Shanghai-based Maxscend Technologies has developed a full-mode digital TV IC solution, code-named MXD 1320, China Business News stated. Maxscend has demonstrated successful reception of HD (High-Definition) and standard digital TV programs with this IC.
Boasting a smaller size and lower power consumption, MXD 1320 is claimed to be the first demodulator compliant with China's digital terrestrial TV standards. By using one logical platform, this chip is able to support both single- and multi-carrier systems. STBs (Set-Top Box) and digital TV sets integrating this IC will be able to receive digital TV signals in regions where single- or multi-carrier technologies are used.
Mass production of this IC is slated for early March, with projected annual production capacity of 1.5 to 2 million units.
