December 14, 2007
Microsoft announced on December 13 that the company and five other companies have forged a strategic alliance, named Digital Home Alliance, in Taiwan, aiming to leverage the core competencies of respective companies.

Members of the Digital Home Alliance will develop various consumer electronics based on a common platform, Microsoft's Windows Home Server. Diverse products manufactured by these companies will thus sport interoperability offered by the integration via Windows Home Server.

Current members of the alliance include Sampo, a Taiwan-based electrical home appliance provider; Gigabyte, a Taiwan-based motherboard maker; Wistron NeWeb, a Taiwan-based provider of wireless communications and IPTV solutions; Streaming21, a US-based broadcast-quality streaming solutions provider; Chinbro, a Taiwan-based mechanical solutions and chassis provider.
