CMO to Reboot Construction on 8G LCD Panel Plant in Kaohsiung

Taiwan-based panel maker CMO (Chi Mei Optoelectronics) plans to restart construction on its 8G LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel production line in the Kaohsiung Science Park in southern Taiwan, according to a report by Taiwan's Economic Daily News on December 10, 2007. The construction project has been suspended since the first quarter of 2007.
CMO plans to reboot 8G facility construction in January 2008, finish equipment installation by year-end 2008, and kick start mass production in 2009. CMO's new plant is expected to be the first 8G LCD panel production line in Taiwan. However, no definite schedule has been disclosed yet. The company has devised further plans to set up a 9G LCD panel production line in the Kaohsiung Science Park, according to Economic Daily News.
