November 30, 2007
Taiwanese CMO (Chi Mei Optoelectronics) plans to set up an LCM (Liquid Crystal display Module) assembly plant and co-establish a panel production cluster with neighboring factories in northern Vietnam in 2008.

CMO's downstream clients include Taiwanese Compal, Acer, and Foxconn, which have all set up facilities in Vietnam. In order to meet the demands of its downstream clients, CMO plans to invest billions of NT dollars in the said facility. CMO is expected to begin land preparation in 2008 and carry out the plan in phases depending on actual needs, according to a report by Taiwan's Economic Daily News.
