TD-SCDMA Update

- Various system integrators recently carried out a new round of TD-SCDMA trials focused on HSPA capability. According to Chinese-language Sina News, the highest HSPA downlink speed on TD-SCDMA network has increased to 2.8Mbps, while the highest uplink speed has reached 2.2Mbps. Commercial implementation is expected to be ready in 2008.

- Samsung, NXP Semiconductors, and T3G Technologies recently unveiled the result of their collaboration on developing multi-mode mobile phones based on NXP's T3G7210 system solution. Codenamed SGH-T578H, the Samsung phone supports the various standards of TD-SCDMA, HSDPA, GSM, GPRS, and EDGE, according to a Nikkei Electronics Asia report.
