Qisda Reported to Land LCD TV Order from Sony, LCD Monitor Order from Acer
November 02, 2007
Taiwanese Qisda, the spun-off ODM (Original Design Manufacturing)/EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) unit of BenQ, recently announced that it has been awarded LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TV orders from Sony and LCD monitor orders from Acer, with both shipments due to commence in 2008.

According to Chinese-language Economic Daily News, Sony plans to place orders for 32-inch LCD TVs with Qisda in 2008, in a bid to gain more market share in Asia and North America. Aside from Qisda, Sony's existing Taiwanese LCD TV contract makers include Wistron and TPV.

Qisda, however, declined to comment on this issue, according to the same source. Further details regarding the contract are thus not yet available.

In addition, Acer also announced that it has consigned contracts for 22-inch widescreen LCD monitors to Qisda. Details of the order are also as yet unknown. Currently, Taiwanese contract makers that produce LCD monitors for Acer include Innolux, TPV, and Techview.
